Training
The MLMP has three kinds of training for prospective volunteers: Citizen Scientist Training, Train-the-Trainer, and Website Tutorial.
Citizen Scientist Training
You can attend a training session given by someone who has attended a train-the-trainer session. These sessions will be held at nature centers throughout the US. Click on any of the highlighted states to find the trainer nearest to you. Please contact the trainers directly for details on training, or see the schedule of upcoming training sessions below.
Train-the-Trainer Sessions for Naturalists
These training sessions took place in 2002-2004, and no future sessions are currently planned. If you'd like to receive informal training, please contact one of the previous training attendees near you (see map below). More information about past Train-the-Trainer sessions
Website Tutorial
You can read the directions on the website, and contact us if you have any questions. Many volunteers have done this since the MLMP began in 1997. Directions for registering, downloading data forms, and monitoring are available in the Monitoring section of this web site. To begin self-training, read the directions and download the data forms and instructions. Be sure to contact us (webmaster@mlmp.org or oberh001@umn.edu) if you have any questions.
Click on the highlighted states in the Map to view contact information for Trainers in that state.
Training Sessions for Citizen Scientists
These training sessions are organized by trainers at Nature Centers around the country. Please contact the trainers directly for more information on the training sessions.
